Turkey holidays from London.
London is the busiest gateway from the UK to Turkey. Six airports between them push more than 8 million seats a year to Turkish destinations, with British Airways, Turkish Airlines, easyJet, Jet2, Pegasus, TUI and Wizz Air all competing for your booking. From central London you can be in a Cappadocian cave hotel by dinner, on a Bodrum yacht by mid-afternoon, or in a Kalkan villa pool four hours after takeoff.
London travellers get the widest choice in the UK: hourly Istanbul flights, daily Antalya/Dalaman/Bodrum services from April to October, and the only year-round connections to Cappadocia (via Istanbul). If you live in zones 1-6 you are within 90 minutes of at least three Turkey-bound airports.

April-May and September-October are our favourite months from London: warm enough for swimming, cheap enough that midweek Heathrow-Antalya can dip below £180 return. July-August premium peaks coincide with UK school holidays, so booking 4-5 months out matters. November-March, focus on Istanbul, Cappadocia and the spa side of Antalya/Belek.
Frequently asked
Which London airport is best for flights to Turkey?
For Istanbul, Heathrow has the broadest year-round schedule (British Airways, Turkish Airlines, every two hours). For coastal Turkey (Antalya, Bodrum, Dalaman) Gatwick and Luton win on price and frequency between April and October. London City has a small but premium Bodrum schedule via British Airways CityFlyer in summer. Stansted is your best bet for ultra-low Wizz Air and Pegasus fares to Istanbul Sabiha Gokcen, often £80-£120 return.
How long is a flight from London to Turkey?
Direct flight times: London-Istanbul 3h 50m, London-Antalya 4h 10m, London-Bodrum 4h 10m, London-Dalaman 4h 5m, London-Izmir 4h 0m. To Cappadocia, you connect via Istanbul, total door-to-door is roughly 8-9 hours from central London.
Do I need a visa for Turkey from London?
No. British passport holders no longer need a visa for tourist stays of up to 90 days within any 180-day period. Just turn up at passport control. Your passport must be valid for at least 150 days from your date of entry — most British travellers get caught out by this rule, so check before booking.
What is the cheapest time to fly from London to Turkey?
For the coast: late April, mid-May, late September and October. For Istanbul: November-February (excluding the Christmas/NYE peak). Avoid school half-terms (mid-February, late May, late October) and avoid the British school summer holiday window of late July to end-August unless booked four-plus months in advance. Tuesday and Wednesday departures are routinely £60-£100 cheaper than Saturday.
Are Turkey flights from London ATOL-protected?
Yes — when booked as a package with flights and hotel together, Hidden Turkey trips are fully ATOL-protected (TÜRSAB Licence #14817 plus our UK package partners). If you book flights only, ATOL does not apply, so check that your card issuer offers Section 75 protection or that your travel insurance includes scheduled airline failure cover.
