The Turkish Riviera stretches 600 miles between Bodrum and Alanya, served by four airports — Antalya (AYT), Dalaman (DLM), Bodrum-Milas (BJV) and Izmir (ADB). Picking the right one matters: a wrong choice can mean a 3-hour transfer instead of 25 minutes. This guide breaks down every airport, which UK cities fly direct, which resorts each gateway serves and the real transfer time to each. Plus the three Riviera regions geographically explained.
Eastern Riviera
Antalya gateway · 60-150 min transfers
From Antalya city east to Alanya, this is the warmest, longest-season and best-value all-inclusive stretch. Lara, Belek, Side, Kemer, Alanya all sit here. Sea is the warmest in the European Med (still 24C in late October), beaches are mostly long sand strips with shallow entry, and the all-inclusive resort density is the highest. Best fit: families, golfers, value AI seekers, late shoulder bookings.
Central Riviera
Antalya gateway · 25-45 min transfers
Antalya city itself plus the immediate coast: Konyaalti, Lara, Kemer corridor down to Olympos. Combines the Roman-walled old town of Kaleici (boutique stays, harbour dining), 14-mile city beaches, and the dramatic Beydaglari mountain backdrop. Ancient sites Aspendos, Termessos, Phaselis, Olympos are all day-trippable. Best fit: first-time visitors, city + beach combo seekers, culture-focused trips.
Western Riviera (Lycian / Turquoise Coast)
Dalaman or Bodrum gateway · 10-90 min transfers
From Bodrum south to Olympos via Marmaris, Icmeler, Fethiye, Olu Deniz, Kalkan, Kas and Patara. The Western Riviera (also called the Lycian or Turquoise Coast) is the boutique end: villa rentals, yacht charters, smaller hotels, more pebble coves than long sand. Sea is clearer (25m visibility around Kas), the Lycian Way long-distance footpath threads the coast, and the sheltered bays around Gocek and Fethiye are the world's top gulet-cruising waters. Best fit: couples, villa families, divers, yachties, hikers.
