How we book it
We work with three guides who built the route in the 1990s. They know which sections are washed out after winter rains and which villages have the best lunch. We book one or two days within a longer Bodrum/Kalkan beach holiday.
Frequently asked questions
How fit do I need to be?
For Patara to Kalkan, average fitness with comfortable trail shoes. For the Yedi Burunlar traverse, you need to be a regular walker comfortable with 700m of ascent. The guide briefs you the night before.
When is best?
April to early June and mid-September to early November. Summer is too hot — there is no shade on most sections.
Is it dangerous?
No, but it is exposed. The waymarking (red and white paint) is reliable, the path narrow in places, and phone signal patchy. Always with a guide unless you are very experienced.
Where do we sleep?
In village pensions (£40 to £80 a night including breakfast and dinner) or back at your beach hotel if doing day hikes from base.
